Senior Manager – Property Accounting
About the Role
The Senior Manager – Property Accounting leads the end-to-end property accounting function across our convenience-based shopping centre portfolio. Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial Finance, you’ll develop and guide a high-performing accounting team, partner closely with the Head of Portfolio Management, and deliver accurate budgets, forecasts, and NOI results.
You’ll collaborate with Knight Frank Australia and work with Finance and Technology leaders to simplify, streamline, and improve key reporting and processes. As a proven change agent, you’ll drive continuous improvement and support better, data-led decision making.
Success in this role requires strong relationships across the Property team, Shared Services, Corporate Finance, Senior Leaders and key external partners including auditors, Knight Frank management, and centre teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Property Accounting team, owning end-to-end property financials (P&L, balance sheet, budgets, and forecasts).
- Ensure accuracy of results, reconciliations, outgoing recoveries, and variance analysis in partnership with Property Management and Knight Frank.
- Deliver monthly reporting and insights, including presentations to the COO and CFO.
- Prepare key financial schedules and support half- and full-year NOI and CapEx results with Corporate Finance.
- Drive continuous improvement across reporting, processes, and data quality, and optimise the use of Yardi.
- Partner closely with the Head of Portfolio Management on budgets, forecasts, and property-level insights.
- Manage relationships with internal/external auditors and maintain property finance policies.
- Collaborate with Shared Services and Commercial Finance on automation, standardisation, and long-term forecasting inputs.
About You
- Experienced property finance leader with strong technical accounting capability.
- At least 5 years’ experience in retail property, with hands-on ownership of annual budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Skilled at simplifying complexity, improving processes, and lifting reporting quality.
- Confident owning end-to-end property financial results across a portfolio.
- Effective people leader who develops and supports high-performing teams.
- Strong business partner who collaborates well with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable presenting insights to executives and contributing to commercial decision making.
- Experienced in managing audits, policies, and governance requirements.
- Continuous improvement mindset, especially around systems, data quality, and reporting (including Yardi or equivalent systems).
- Advanced skills in Excel and Power BI — building dashboards, Scenario Models, and delivering actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
